Cleaner/Porter Job Opening

Join our team. Congregation Mishkan Or in Beachwood Ohio is a leading Reform Jewish synagogue.  Our name means ‘dwelling place of light’.

We’re looking for a talented and reliable cleaner/porter to join our maintenance department, reporting to Director of Operations Jennifer Mendelson. In this position, your chief responsibility is to preserve the good condition and functionality of our beautiful synagogue that contains a preschool and religious school.

Our ideal candidate will have a broad range of cleaning and set up skills, with in-depth knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow set up directions, and customer service. To excel in this position, you must have strong communication, the ability to adapt to meet the needs of the moment and be a part of team.

Cleaner/Porter Responsibilities:

• Implementing a range of cleaning procedures to ensure health and safety of everyone in the building
• Event set up and tear down, following specific set up directions
• Proactively identify cleaning needs and address them
• Assisting with generalized maintenance needs on occasion
• Assisting in kitchen-related set up, cleaning on occasion
• Other duties as assigned

Cleaner/Porter Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a similar role
• Understanding of cleaning procedures and techniques.
• Physically capable and available to work a range of scheduled shifts, including some weekends, holidays, and evenings.
• Customer service orientation
• Able to work as a part of a team.
• Must pass BCI/FBI background check.

Compensation range: $15.00 minimum/hour depending on experience; Benefits Package Includes Medical, Dental plan, a retirement plan, and paid time off.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, reach with arms and hands, and lift up to 40 pounds.
